Castle Huis Bergh
During my visit to Castle Huis Bergh, located in the picturesque ‘s-Heerenberg, I had a unique experience. Despite the planned renovations scheduled until mid-2025, I was able to enjoy the charm of this historic castle at a reduced rate.
Tower
While most parts of the castle are currently closed for renovation, the tower was accessible to visitors. From the tower, I had a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Here, I could admire the beauty of the moat and the lush castle gardens. You can also get a sense of what it was like to walk around with a helmet and sword. Additionally, admire the armor and weapons from the past.
Cellar
There was also a unique opportunity to admire the cellar of Castle Huis Bergh. This place, normally closed to the public, provides a unique glimpse into how life used to be. Admire the well and ovens where bread was baked.
Minting
A highlight of my visit was the minting at Castle Huis Bergh. Here, I had the chance to catch a glimpse of the rich history of the castle. I could mint my own coin, an experience that took me back to the times when the castle served as a minting place.
The minting gave me the opportunity to literally hold history in my hands while creating my own unique coin. It was an educational and engaging experience that gave me a deeper understanding of the castle’s role in the region.
